Crime Stoppers encourages members of the community to assist local law enforcement agencies in the fight against crime by overcoming the two key elements that inhibit community involvement: fear and apathy.

Crime Stoppers provides a telephone tipline number and Web Tips to encourage citizens in the community to volunteer vital information helpful to law enforcement agencies to fight against crime.

The Gillespie County Crime Stoppers is a non-profit 501(3)(c) volunteer citizen directed organization founded on the principle that someone other than the criminal has information about a crime. Our goal is to generate anonymous tips from the community and empower the public by showing them that they can make a difference.

We provide a 24-hour tip line 997-8477 (TIPS) to the public with guaranteed anonymity. Tipsters are eligible for cash rewards if they provide information about a crime that leads to an arrest. The Board of Directors meets monthly and is responsible for the management of the program which includes: fundraising, processing eligible rewards, acting as trustee of monies, and maintaining liaisons with the public, media, and law enforcement.

Our program is certified by the Texas Crime Stoppers Advisory Council, Office of the Governor, and was established in 1989.
